Be a School Pigeon

First off a little apology for yesterday's poll. I realized almost immediately after writing my question about pets that it wasn't a very fair question to ask. The relationship we humans have with pets, generally speaking, cannot be condensed into a four- or five-word choice in a poll because of its sheer complexity. It's just not that simple, and to top it off, I gave very few options. The word "inferior" was an unfortunate choice, because it didn't accurately encapsulate the point I was trying to get across.

That having been said, have your say in reshaping the education system: take today's poll.

I think that children should learn grammar and spelling first, then be allowed to disregard it for the sake of creativity.

By the same token, I'm okay with calculators... if you've taught the child to do basic arithmetic already.

Interesting viewpoint. I guess I started frowning on calculators in school one time when I was paying for a meal. My roommate and I both had the same meal, each coming out to $9.99. I was paying for both. Because there's an extra fee for using a debit card, I asked if I could pay for both meals together. The girl at the desk asked if I minded paying for them separately, as she didn't have a calculator and couldn't add $9.99 and $9.99.

I'm in agreement with both public and private schools.
