Oh, the joys of sleep. Perchance to snore! I am sitting here at work, awake, but not happy to be. So if I can't sleep, at least I can do a poll about sleep. Oh beautiful sleep!!!!!!!!!
I hesitate to award superlatives, but this is one of my embarrassing stories.
I sang in Chorale in high school; I was a pretty strong soprano. I attended a girl's high school, and there was a boy's high school in the area that turned to us (and the other girl's high school) for girls for things like musicals. I was invited, along with two other girls, to sing the vocals for "Gonna Fly Now" - the Theme from Rocky - along with their Concert Band.
We were given one rehearsal. I was responsible for "getting" our note from some particular instrument, at some particular point. I had the first couple of notes, then we harmonized. We were performing with a microphone, on stage, a bit to the side from the band.
Comments from my friends who came to watch? "At first, there was this horrible feedback, but then they fixed the mics and it sounded great."
I failed to get the right note, and they turned out mics off. That was no feedback -- that was the three of us singing exactly the wrong notes.
no subject

Sigh.
