First there was Apollo 9. Then, there was Apollo 10. Then, after that,
Apollo 11. But what momentous event took place after that? Why, Apollo 12,
of course.

Moving on just a little in our history lesson, skipping over forty years
when nothing in particular happened, we arrive at August 30, 2009, 7:00 PM
Eastern. Okay, our history lesson has inexplicably turned into an
examination of the future, but who cares about these details? I sure
don't. Anyway, history will record that an episode of Toews on the Waves
made its mark on an expectant Internet radio-listening public. Had its
host, Bruce Toews, described the show in advance, he would have said
something like this:

This week on the show, we feature popular songs done by country artists.
Some of these remakes are really quite good. Others, well, you'll have to
decide which you prefer. Our other features are all here too: Songs I
Can't Stand, Ripley's Believe it or Not, the Mooth Meditative Moment, and
a whole lot more.

In hour 2, be prepared to be entertained by the audio dramatization of
George Stewart's novel "Earth Abides". Imagine a deadly disease robbing
the world of most of humanity. It's a scenario whose basic premise is not
unlike Stephen King's book "The Stand", though the story itself is very
different.

So will history relate that you joined Bruce for the program? I think it
should. It makes for a more entertaining story, don't you think?

Toews on the Waves can be heard Sunday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Eastern, or 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Central, 5-7 PM Mountain, or 4-6 PM Pacific. To listen, direct your browser to http://www.billsparks.org. Click on The Legend, and then choose your favorite media player.
