The first installment of Bruce's OTR Show of the Week is up and ready for you. this is an episode of Fibber McGee and Molly from 1949 called Doc Gamble Day, and has the distinction of being the first OTR show I've ever listened to. I present here two versions, which I will originally call version 1 and version 2.

Version 1 is complete and uncut. Version 2 has the commercials and music cut out. Version 2 is a little clearer than version 1. It was also this edit, the version 2 edit, which our local station played back in 1979 when I first heard it. So, because it is a funny episode, as well as for sentimental reasons, that is my choice for the first OTR show of the week. Here are the download links:

A New Idea

I'm thinking of a new feature in my LJ, Bruce's OTR Show of the Week. I'd post one old-time radio program every Saturday morning, and link to it here in my LJ, where I'd talk a little about the show and why it's special to me. I'll send up a test balloon tomorrow. In the meantime, what do you think of this idea?
