I'm kind of sorry you got yourself sucked into this meat-grinder. It's fun at first, but as time goes on it gets more and more competitive, and the fun sort of goes away. Also, as I said in a journal entry last week, if it was a straight-up writing contest I wouldn't have a problem with it. But there are some rather seemingly arbitrary and arcane criteria, and invariably it boils down to a popularity contest. I love to write, but I will not participate in a competition like this. For one thing, I don't believe in it. Also, being very honest here, I'd almost certainly get sucked in, just like you have. I do wish you luck, and if you do make it to the end of the rainbow I hope the prize, whatever it is, is worth it.
