What a Humbling Week

I have many reasons to be humble this week. One of them is that my song, Recliner, a parody of Delilah by Tom Jones, made it onto this week's episode of The Dr. Demento Show. I'm excited. This is the second song I've done to make it to the show ... I hope it's better than the first, which was recorded over seventeen years ago, back in 1988 when I was still in high school. I'm humbled this week for a lot of reasons, this is one.

What's this *humble* business??!! Is it against your principles to express pride in your accomplishments? Here is the definition for humble:

• adjective (humbler, humblest) 1 having or showing a modest or low estimate of one’s own importance. 2 of low rank. 3 of modest pretensions or dimensions: humble beginnings.

• verb lower in dignity or importance.

Does having your song on Dr. Demento lower you? This smacks of false modesty, dear boy. Ya done good! If you're feeling proud, why can't you say so??

Good point, but I truly felt humbled when I wrote that. Can't argue with how I feel, can I?
