Microchip and Dip

Well, actually, dip has no part in this message, but I thought it was a cute title and since I haven't used the term in a few years, I figured I would.
It's been a long and winding road, to quote a Bug Music song, when it comes to computers at work. I started work here in 1996. It wasn't until 2002 that I was finally given a computer. It wasn't too bad for its time: 1.8 GHz wasn't lightning fast, but it was all right for 2002; the 256MB of Ram left (leaves) a lot to be desired.
So finally, hopefully within the month, I'll be moving on from Windows 2K to Windows XP Pro, and from Office 2000 to Office 2003. The 1.8 GHz processor won't change, the 256MB of Ram might but probably won't, but we're hoping this upgrade of OS and of Office will clear up some problems I was having.
But really, I can't complain too loudly. I'ave got a new chair, a new shelf (above my desk, so I won't have to pile braille codebooks on top of the computer, and it's also a nice place to park my toy Coke truck - yes, I have a toy Coke truck on my desk, so what of it? If I'm bored I can go zoom zoom, can you say the same?), and a case of Coke Zero at my side. It could be worse.
