I Hope I'm Not Shooting Myself in the Foot

I just wrote to Donna Passey, the majordomo at the part of the Department of Education where I've applied for my job. I asked her politely if the braille proofreader's position has been filled yet, and if not, when they expect to fill it. The job posting itself kind of made it clear that they didn't want inquiries, I just hope that my inquiring thus does not disqualify me outright. I also just realized that I addressed her by her first name, which may be another no-no, but shoot, she and I know each other and I've always called her Donna. I'm an ass. Sometimes I don't think about these things now, and it's kind of too late to change anything now. Oh Brucie, where is thy brain?
